THERAPY AS AN ART and science

Modalities used
Multimodal or ‘Eclectic therapy’ describes a theoretical orientation that draws from multiple schools of thought, modalities, or backgrounds. Like an artist’s pallet, an eclectic orientation allows me to choose different styles and interventions in the work that I do with clients, applying the methods that best resonate with them specifically and generate the greatest outcome. Some of the theories and modalities I most often pull from are:
Humanistic
Relational/Cultural
Solution-focused
Choice Theory
Psychodynamic
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Developmental
Strengths-Based
Motivational Interviewing
Systems - Theory
Interpersonal
Mindfulness
Person Centered
all it takes is a desire to change, heal, improve, or grow and the willingness to try.
DILIGENTLY trained
When you work with me, know that you’re in good hands. Psychology is my jam. It’s what I’m invested in, interested in, and passionate about. I’m devoted: I engage and participate in many continuing education opportunities in the psychological and therapeutic realm in the form of seminars/workshops, and classes in addition to the extensive reading I do in the field. I regularly contribute to the depth and breadth of my knowledge and apply this in addition to personal and professional experience in knowledge of the human condition, of which I am both student and participant!
evidence-based practices
The methods, treatment interventions, and theories I draw from are scientifically based, empirically supported, and peer reviewed by psychological researchers. (You can find a comprehensive list of these in the “about” section.) I commonly weave philosophical thought, analogies, humor, and direct communication in my work with clients, and have been told that working with me feels conversational and natural.
tailored to you
Therapy is highly individualized based on the unique needs, circumstances, resources, personality type, conceptual ability and developmental level of each client. I strive to “meet people where they are” and to create connections in professional relationships that are characterized by respect, safety, collaboration, and compassion. I aim for the therapeutic relationships I create to be congenial, relaxed, and sincere. In the context of therapy with me, clients are encouraged to examine their own emotions and behaviors in ways that can be challenging but highly rewarding and beneficial.
