we all face difficulties
Just like the changing sea, our circumstances and ability to manage vary throughout life and aren’t always predictable. The challenges that bring us to counseling—Anxiety, Trauma, Depression, Unhealthy Family Dynamics, Toxic Relationships, Substance Use/Addiction, and more—can leave any of us feeling broken, lost, adrift, or uncertain.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE
embrace personal growth
Therapy provides a safe, supportive place to sort through the issues, behaviors, feelings, dynamics, and hang-ups we all carry. It helps us identify our strengths and learn ways to cope so we can move forward and feel better. In therapy we have the opportunity to self-reflect and to deepen our understanding of ourselves and how we impact others around us, and consider ways to grow and improve. Working on ourselves in this way can result in stronger relationships with others, and lead to the subjective sense of more life satisfaction.
You are Your Life’s artist
I believe our power exists in our choices and that we can create meaning and growth from what we’re presented with, even when it’s hard. We may not be able to choose WHAT happens to us, but we can create and improve our RESPONSES to the things that do, and integrate the lessons from our experiences for future development. I work with clients to help them regain (or strengthen) their ability to create healthier perspectives, find motivation, and work toward the changes they envision for themselves, no matter what life is throwing their way. Time is also spent examining any patterns, attitudes, or behaviors that could be contributing to the current difficulties and what adjustments might help. I value the idea of “Doing the best we can with what we have, where we are.”
